Description

You are bidding on a vintage (late 1950s) Swimaster (Los Angeles 1, Calif.) Spearfisherman Kelp Gun. Speargun has lain dormant for many years! Overall length of gun is about 28 inches; spear measures 29 inches in length. Handle looks to be made of two-piece cast aluminum and has a metal trigger with a two-position safety selector. Trigger operates smoothly. Have made no attempt to open the handle assembly or to try fire it! Right side of handle has a lanyard clip. The yoke on the end of the gun's shaft is cast aluminum. Shaft looks to be annodized aluminum. Rubber band sling is rubber tubing and has stress cracks where it loops around the yoke. Spear is solid steel and has a keeper ring attached to it near the tip. Shaft of spear is pitted quite a bit on the surface. Two notches cut into the handle end of spear; 180 degrees and 3 inches apart. A very interesting vintage speargun. Alec Peirce Scuba video, Vintage Scuba: Odd Spear Guns - S04E07, features this very gun. Be sure to watch it!
